Based on Q3 2026 vendor activity tracked by PE Stack. Not exhaustive of the global PE tech landscape.

Overview

Between July and September 2026, PE Stack tracked 244 individual pieces of vendor news across the private markets’ technology landscape, spanning new products, partnerships, M&A, funding rounds and more.

Read together, the quarter tells a consistent story: AI has stopped being a category of tool GPs shop for separately and started becoming a baseline layer inside the tools they already use; ownership of the vendor landscape is moving faster than the headlines alone suggest; and capital continues to back PE-specific infrastructure.

The figures below set out what the data shows, with the full underlying list in the appendix.

Key Figures

Share of news

Category Count
New / updated products 70
Deal activity 28
Partnerships 63
Other vendor news (clients, personnel, research, awards) 83

Key numbers

1 in 4 new product launches mentioned an AI agent, completing a task end-to-end, not a feature layered onto existing software.

22 MCP-based integrations connected vendor data into AI tools this quarter, up from a standing start in early July.

15 M&A, take-private, or divestment transactions reshaped who controls the PE tech landscape, more than one a week.

9 funding rounds landed in private-markets-focused software, several at real scale.

Share of activity by function

Reclassifying the quarter’s product and partnership activity by function, rather than by news type, shows where the market’s attention actually sat:

Function Share
Deal Sourcing & CRM 40%
Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting 21%
Fund Administration & Accounting 17%
Investor Relations & LP Servicing 14%
Other 8%

Findings

AI is a layer, not a category.

A standalone “AI” bucket would have captured only a small share of this quarter’s activity. The rest of the AI story showed up inside deal sourcing, portfolio monitoring, fund accounting and investor tools as an added capability, not a separate product line.

“Agentic” has overtaken “AI-assisted.”

A quarter of new product launches this quarter described themselves as an agent completing a task end to end, rather than a tool that assists with search or analysis. The relevant question has shifted from “can this tool answer questions” to “can this tool do the job.”

Ownership of the vendor landscape is moving fast.

15 M&A, take-private or divestment events landed this quarter, more than one a week, including a mega-acquisition, a take-private, and a live multi-billion-dollar sale process. The vendor a firm licenses today may sit inside a different owner within twelve months.

Capital keeps backing PE-specific infrastructure.

9 distinct funding rounds landed in private-markets-focused software this quarter, several at real scale, despite broader questions about AI funding generally.
